Galaxy Note

The Samsung Galaxy Note comes in a few different models. The original is the international model, the N7000. In the US one of the more popular models is the LTE version, the i717. In most cases I will be working with these models but there are several others available in Asia and Europe. The good news is that they all share a very similar design and while that parts are NOT compatible  the procedure for repairing them does not vary by much. In my opinion it is safe to say that if you can fix one Galaxy Note then you can probably fix them all. Take a look at the image below and see if you notice any differences.

If you look closely you can see that the screen on the left has two flex cables. One is on the left hand side at the top and the other is on the right hand side at the top. It turns out that when you order a replacement screen for your Galaxy Note it will not come with the S-Pen sensor. If you are careful you can actually salvage the old one assuming that it is still in good shape. Just take a flat pry tool and separate it from the old screen. You might need to add some adhesive to it but if you carefully lift up the main flex assembly you can see where it goes. Be sure to plug in the new screen and test it before you adhesive it onto the frame. Attempting to remove it after it has been installed usually results in damaging it. That means you will have to purchase another replacement and they are a bit pricey.
